Hello, I’m Brenda Sanchez, founder of Esperanza Mental Health.
I believe healing comes from caring for the whole person—our thoughts, our bodies, our relationships, and the world around us. Each one affects the others, and none exists in isolation.
Our struggles and experiences shape us, often in ways we don’t recognize right away. Growth comes from understanding ourselves with honesty and compassion. While it can feel easier to look away from hard truths, facing them allows life to feel more meaningful and aligned.
I value connection, presence, and the simple moments that bring joy. I believe change is inevitable, and learning to welcome it—rather than resist it—can become one of our greatest strengths. Healing isn’t about perfection; it’s about awareness, balance, and learning to live more fully in the present.
MY STORY
My journey has been shaped by resilience, cultural transition, and growth. After moving to the United States and navigating language and identity shifts, I became bilingual in Spanish and English, built a family with my husband, and found meaningful work in mental health care.
I began my healthcare career at 18 as a Medical Assistant and later worked in dermatology and OB/GYN while completing my nursing education. I spent several years as a Psychiatric Registered Nurse in inpatient and rehabilitation settings before becoming a Psychiatric–Mental Health Nurse Practitioner in 2020.
Like many of the individuals I support, I’ve experienced internal conflict and the lasting effects of trauma—often without fully realizing how deeply it shaped my self-worth, relationships, and well-being. A turning point came when I faced my own health challenges and recognized that medication alone wasn’t enough. Integrating movement, routine changes, supplementation, and whole-person care helped me heal in ways I never expected.
Through both personal and professional experience, I’ve learned the importance of nurturing biological, emotional, and relational health. I value meaningful connection, while also understanding that healthy boundaries are essential for balance and growth.
Change can be subtle and easy to overlook until it feels overwhelming. Whether symptoms come and go or persist without clear explanation, you don’t have to navigate it alone. I’m here to listen, support, and help guide you toward healing that feels sustainable and true to you.
Warm regards,
Brenda Sanchez, PMHNP-BC
